The Semantic Business Information (SBI) team at Yelp builds platforms that collect, curate, and serve critical business data, enabling internal teams to create richer user experiences. We support the core content that Yelp provides and are seeking a talented engineer to join us.

What You'll Do

• Build, extend, and support backend platforms for trusted business data.
• Collaborate with teams like Search, Local Services, and Ads to develop APIs and streaming solutions for data access.
• Partner with database teams to select and optimize storage solutions for scalability.
• Create tools to monitor and ensure data quality.
• Make strategic build-or-buy decisions to meet business goals.

What It Takes To Succeed

• Proficiency in an object-oriented language (e.g., Python or Java), SQL or NoSQL, Unix, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience designing and maintaining large-scale distributed systems.
• Effective API development skills (REST, GraphQL).
• Comfort with performance analysis tools.
• Ability to gather, align, and manage requirements across teams.
• Interest or experience in data-intensive infrastructure.
