Job description

Purpose

To provide 7IM Agile Squad(s) with a Data automation first approach to delivering incremental change. Provide day to day support to meet the 7IM Test Chapter objectives. Provide informed test guidance, support and delivery to the business, development and support functions throughout the lifecycle of our cloud solutions, with a ‘shift-left’ approach. Helping to support overall delivery of the Data test automation agenda as 7IM drives towards a Quality Engineering culture.

Responsibilities

1. Continuous learning and contribution within established Data Automation framework(s).
2. Analysis of requirements (functional / non-functional) specific to Data and integration, that enable you to confidently suggest types of testing that could / should be conducted on a piece of work including the approach(es) that could / should be taken.
3. Create data generation / manipulation / mining data queries to support test prep and execution.
4. Automate testing for data transformations, validations, and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes in Databricks.
5. Communication of the impact of not conducting certain types of testing should be effective such that stakeholders understand and acknowledge any assumed risk.
6. Be proactive in terms of suggesting improvements to test principles, Data quality techniques, Troubleshooting data issues, inconsistencies in pipelines and Test Data creation tools to other 7IM Test Chapter members.
7. Create opportunities to increase efficiency, consistency, and value of testing; once created these opportunities should be driven forward in the most autonomous way possible.
8. Driving a BDD and / or TDD culture among peers, within the software development lifecycle. Acting consistently in accordance with 7IM’s VPVPs.
9. Other, as reasonably required by your line manager and 7IM.

About You

Knowledge

1. The ability to interact and influence Agile Squad(s), Data Engineers, Cloud engineering team and other key stakeholders.
2. Ability to write and maintain automated tests to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across various data pipelines and transformations.
3. Core Data Engineering knowledge and experience to champion best practices aligned with industry standards.
4. Strong analytical skills to influence Data testing approach.
5. Strong problem-solving skills.
6. Strong communication skills (verbal & written) to help manage defects and relay complex technical details to a business audience.
7. Ability to mentor and coach more junior members of the team.
8. In-depth knowledge of the delivery lifecycle alongside the ISTQB industry best practice techniques.
9. Asset Management industry knowledge.
10. Experience of Azure Cloud and associated tech stack.
11. Intermediate SQL.
12. Microsoft Developer & Test Tools e.g., TFS / ADO.
