Co-op is reshaping its Digital, Technology and Data function and seeks a Principal Data Architect to shape enterprise data strategy at Manchester HQ. You’ll lead architectural direction, mentor others and collaborate with engineering, platform and business teams in a hybrid role.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale data architecture across data modelling, governance, integration and strategy.
• Strong architectural judgement balancing business value, technical complexity, risk, cost and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Shape and evolve Co-op’s enterprise-wide data architecture, including conceptual, logical and physical data models.
• Provide data leadership and architectural guidance across strategic programmes and complex data projects.
• Partner with engineering, platform and business teams to deliver secure, scalable data solutions.
• Coach and mentor data architects and specialists to grow capability.
• Influence data platform strategy, governance and long-term investment decisions.
• Data & AI platform solution design and hands-on design work.
