Data Strategist and Translator

Summary

We are seeking an experienced Data Strategist and Translator to co-ordinate our Data Driven Decision Making transformation workstream. You will be responsible for overseeing the strategic use of data and facilitating the creation of data products, in a programme that efficiently and effectively delivers continuous evolution and improvement that increases data literacy and maturity across the organisation. The primary focus is on the data content, ensuring that it is fit for purpose for business decision making, proactive performance monitoring, and operational excellence. This role requires a strategic thinker with an interest in data-driven decision-making, storytelling, data quality and governance, data analytics, and data architecture.

Job Profile

1. Facilitate data-driven decision-making across the organisation by providing insights and recommendations based on data analysis.
2. Input into the data strategy of the organisation.
3. Collaborate with senior leaders and stakeholders to identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive business innovation and growth.
4. Understand how data impacts the organisation – this includes data content investigation for good data quality, data transformation and interpretation of data, with good skills in data administration, design, and architecture.
5. Lead data discovery to achieve fit for purpose for decision making.
6. Understand data as a product concept.
7. Facilitate and explore workstream decision making and define business requirements with an ability to translate desired business outcomes to data solutions.
8. Assist in project/programme management and coordinating cross-workstream resources, working closely with a blended team of business, data, and IT.
9. Oversee the design and implementation of data architecture and data infrastructure.
10. Help to improve data literacy of the organisation and understand data as a product concept.
11. Accountable for ensuring that Data and AI investments deliver direct, measurable value to the business.

Basic Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in information science, data management, computer science or related field preferred.
2. Demonstrate an ability to develop and implement data strategies that drive business outcomes.
3. Advanced capability in interpreting and translating requirements for contextual decision making, delivered across complex data landscapes.
4. Experience working with industry standards, governance, regulations, and guidelines in data management.
5. Experience working with modern data and AI/ML technologies to deliver self-service solutions for business decision making, operational/process efficiencies, and proactive performance management.
6. Experience in facilitating workshops with senior business leaders, data content experts, and technologists to solicit needs, challenge hypotheses, and create a common vision.
7. Comfortable working with and translating across multi-functional business areas using a common language.
