Job description

We are seeking a Data Architect to help our client with the definition and implementation of its data strategy. You will have a background of delivering excellent data solutions (including data process redesign) and have a thorough understanding, and experience of using, Microsoft cloud-based data management tools. You must be able to present examples of successful data architecture and design solutions, preferably in the financial services sector.

Tasks:

1. Implement supporting governance and controls to ensure adherence to industry best practices in data asset management.
2. Lead the design of a data strategy, including documenting business requirements for data management, analytics, and reporting.
3. Review the current Central Data Store (CDS) design and assess its ability to meet future reporting needs.
4. Evaluate the feasibility of transitioning CDS to a cloud-based Enterprise Data Warehouse / Data Lake.
5. Design a cohesive data model and data dictionary aligned with current and future reporting needs.
6. Collaborate with stakeholders to develop, implement, and support effective data solutions that optimize technology use, reduce operational risk, and deliver stakeholder value.
7. Oversee and govern Power BI reporting models and changes.

You will have expertise in managing data assets and operating cloud-based data warehouse models for internal reporting. Additionally, the role includes providing DBA support for the IT Infrastructure team, requiring a strong background in operational database administration within financial services environments.

DBA responsibilities include:

1. Providing technical support for SQL Database environments.
2. Supporting database issues from incidents or changes.
3. Supporting project transitions of new databases into production.

Experience:

• At least 10 years of relevant experience.
• Extensive experience designing data models and data dictionaries.
• Proficiency with Microsoft cloud data management tools.
• Proven ability to improve data processes and write clear requirements.
• Strong analytical skills with a meticulous approach.
• Experience with process automation, assessing benefits, costs, and risks.
• Ability to support Power BI report/dashboard design and stakeholder engagement.
• Desirable: experience in investment banking operations, especially trade workflows for Bonds and Money Markets.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or Data Engineering.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert.

Technical Knowledge:

• Expertise in data modeling techniques.
• Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and tools.
• Understanding of master data management (MDM).
• Skill in designing high-performance T-SQL queries.
• Knowledge of Azure SQL Database and Managed Instance.
• Experience with Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, and Synapse Analytics.
• Understanding of Azure Active Directory.

Note: This role is inside IR35, requires on-site presence 3 days/week in London EC3, and candidates must possess or be eligible for UK Government SC clearance, with a BPSS check conducted upon appointment.
