Job summary

Hippo in Leeds is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to lead data analysis within client-facing projects. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver actionable insights from large data sources and build robust dashboards.

The role emphasizes data quality, mentoring junior analysts, and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement. Competitive salary with travel to client sites as needed.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record as a data analyst with presenting data to users.
  • Expert data cleansing, analysis, modelling and visualisation (Tableau, Power BI, Looker Studio).
  • Experience with large data warehouses and/or data lakes.
  • Familiarity with cloud analytics platforms (AWS, Azure, Snowflake, GCP).
  • SQL and languages such as R or Python.
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to advise on complex client requirements.
  • Mentoring and coaching junior analysts.

Responsibilities

  • Draw actionable insights from multiple data sources and communicate via reports and dashboards.
  • Engage with client stakeholders to translate business needs into analysis requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for advanced analytics, including predictive modelling and ML.

Senior Data Analysts at Hippo are experienced practitioners who lead the analytical thinking within a project, ensuring data quality and mentoring others to maintain high standards of insight. The Senior Data Analyst will be a key player and implementer in this mission. Please note we are looking for candidates who are looking for growth at the Senior level; therefore, the advertised salary band represents the entry point for this level, allowing for clear progression within the role, which we are very keen to support.

Your Role in a Nutshell
  • Draw actionable insights from multiple, large sources of data and communicate these effectively through reports, dashboards and presentations.
  • Engage with client stakeholders to understand their business needs and translate these into clear requirements for analysis.
  • Identify opportunities for the use of advanced analytics techniques (e.g. predictive modelling and machine learning) to provide additional value.
  • Use robust statistical techniques and be able to communicate your methodology to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Apply tools and techniques for data analysis and visualisation using business intelligence tools.
  • Understand data platforms and pipelines at a conceptual level and identify data quality issues.
  • Be involved in the recruitment and on-boarding of other analysts, and support other consultants in their professional development.
  • Promote Hippo’s Herd internally and externally through blogs, case studies, and workshops.
Essential Experience
  • A proven track record as a data analyst with extensive experience exploring and presenting data for users.
  • Expert skills in data cleansing, analysis, modelling and visualisation (Tableau, Power BI, Looker Studio).
  • Experience working with large, complex data warehouses and/or data lakes.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based analytics platforms such as AWS, Azure, Snowflake, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Proficiency in SQL and languages such as R or Python, including relevant frameworks.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to advise upon complex client requirements.
  • Mentoring and coaching skills with a passion for up-skilling junior analysts.
Desirable Experience
  • Public sector or consultancy experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience with automated data pipeline tools (e.g., dbt, Airflow).

Hippo Locations

We are headquartered in Leeds and have offices across the UK in Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham, London and Bristol. We're on the lookout for top talent nationwide but you need to be located within reasonable travelling distance from one of our offices. Given the dynamic nature of a consulting business, you may be required to work on-site at a Hippo office or at an in/out of town client location for a number of days per week (client dependent) and therefore candidates will need to be open/flexible to travel and working on one of those sites at least 2 days per week. We offer a generous relocation support package of up to £8,000 (please ask for terms and conditions) to help make your move a smooth one.
