The role is perfect for a candidate that is passionate about music, data, AI and technology and has a thirst for acquiring, analysing and communicating knowledge through data. In a creative organisation such as ours, reducing a complex problem into something simple is key, so any experience managing stakeholders, shaping questions and translating data into clear insight would also be a strength.

Alongside this, you will be responsible for delivering analysis, reporting and measurement that helps solve real business problems across Universal Music UK. As part of the central data, AI and technology team, you’ll have a chance to work across all divisions, including AMS, frontline labels, our catalogue division UMR, and all other central teams, as well as data and technology teams within the wider business. This includes helping shape insight, reporting and data products that support & supercharge the labels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Working directly with the Data & AI team to support artists & labels across the business.
  • Being a senior voice within the team and leading data strategy at a label level.
  • Supporting core strategic research with data & audience insight.
  • Researching & developing data driven solutions to solve current & future business problems.
  • Utilising partner data to pull out key metrics and feeding back to the label teams.
  • Advising on data related topics to help guide or inform business decisions.
  • Sourcing, cleaning and preparing data for modelling, product creation or visualisation.
  • Developing new data sets or features that become integral to how the business operates.

At the heart of this role is a desire to give us a competitive edge in connecting our artists with audiences across the globe. More will be explained at Interview. Rest assured, this is an exciting role as part of an innovative new initiative within the organisation.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience with cloud data platforms such as BigQuery, Google Cloud Platform or AWS.
  • Experience building dashboards, reporting products and self-serve insight tools.
  • Strong understanding of data modelling, ETL/ELT processes and data quality.
  • Working knowledge of Python or another programming language for analysis.
  • Familiarity with Git, version control and modern analytics workflows.
  • Good understanding of AI, machine learning concepts and their practical application.
  • Ability to mentor others and raise the quality of analytical work across a team.
  • Knowledge of music repertoire is advantageous.
Experience
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a data analyst, analytics or related role.
  • Background engaging stakeholders in a consultative or analytical capacity.
  • Experience leading analysis that informs business decisions and product development.
  • Experience working with engineering, data science or product teams to turn analysis into scalable tools, reporting or data products.
Education
