Are you interested in working for the music industry? Would you like to help turn data into insight that drives innovation and creative data-driven strategies across Universal Music?

Universal Music UK is looking for an Analytics and Insights Strategist to become part of our UK central data, AI and technology team. The role offers a unique opportunity to join us at the start of a new chapter, where we are looking to grow & expand on the foundation of work we’ve already begun.

The role is perfect for a candidate that is passionate about music, data, AI and technology and has a thirst for acquiring, analysing and communicating knowledge through data. In a creative organisation such as ours, reducing a complex problem into something simple is key, so any experience managing stakeholders, shaping questions and translating data into clear insight would also be a strength.

Alongside this, you will be responsible for helping our labels use data and insight to make better strategic decisions. You will work closely with label teams to understand their priorities, gather requirements and translate business questions into clear analytical briefs for the wider data team. Working closely with senior and junior analysts, data scientists, engineers, product managers and business teams, you will help shape compelling narratives around artist, audience and market performance. As part of the central data, AI and technology team, you’ll have a chance to work closely with AMS, frontline labels, our catalogue division UMR, and all other central teams, as well as data and technology teams within the wider business. This includes acting as a key voice for the team on the label floor, helping ensure our insight, reporting and strategic projects are closely aligned to label needs.

Key Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include:

  • Working as part of the Data & AI team, partnering closely with labels to support artists and acting as one of two senior voices with a focus on label strategy, stakeholder relationships and insight storytelling.
  • Acting as a senior Data & AI voice for the labels, helping lead data strategy and ensuring insight work is aligned to label priorities.
  • Building strong relationships with label teams to understand priorities, gather requirements and shape clear analytical briefs for the wider Data & AI team.
  • Supporting core strategic research with artist, audience, market and repertoire insight.
  • Working closely with senior and junior analysts to turn label questions into analysis, reporting and actionable recommendations.
  • Utilising partner, platform and internal data to pull out key metrics, identify opportunities and feed insight back to label teams.
  • Creating clear narratives around artist performance, audience behaviour and campaign opportunities to help guide business decisions.
  • Advising on data related topics to ensure strategic projects, products and reporting are aligned to label needs.
  • Identifying opportunities for new datasets, dashboards, features or insight products that become integral to how the business operates.

At the heart of this role is a desire to give us a competitive edge in connecting our artists with audiences across the globe. More will be explained at interview. Rest assured, this is an exciting role as part of an innovative new initiative within the organisation.
