We are seeking a Senior Data Analyst to offer analytics support to crucial business sectors, with a focus on delivering valuable management information and insights to a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. Key to this position is the capacity to collaborate with stakeholders at various organizational levels, ensuring their needs are transformed into both technical and non-technical outcomes. A vital aspect of the role involves actively contributing to advancing Study Group's transition towards a more data-driven culture, all while supporting data governance initiatives.

ABOUT THE ROLE
  1. Undertake simple and complex statistical analysis of a variety of datasets whilst producing (and monitoring) performance measures, modelling scenarios and outcomes as necessary, for a variety of stakeholders across the organisation. This includes working with internal and external data, utilizing quantitative and qualitative analytics techniques. Data quality checks and screening are often necessary, as is the ability to provide quality assurance regarding imported data.
  2. Derive insights and explain/interpret trends identified, and their implications, which can include presenting findings to stakeholders. This involves preparing and leading reports and producing suitable metrics that are appropriately benchmarked. Ensuring data is fully understood and utilized correctly, providing additional information or context as needed, and training end users on new reports and dashboards are essential responsibilities.
  3. Manage and design the reporting environment, identifying areas to increase efficiency and automation of processes, and establishing automated data processes. Collaborate with the Data Architecture Team around the data lake by identifying and revising reporting requirements. Develop and maintain MI/data reports and dashboards, often integrating data from multiple systems. Maintain documentation related to reports and dashboards.
  4. Create data visualizations using PowerBI, Tableau, R, and other tools to provide accessible insights into trends, outliers, and patterns in data.
  5. Manage complex data-related projects from inception to completion, including those involving data modelling and forecasting. Support initiatives for data integrity and normalization.
  6. Support ad hoc data requests as needed.
  7. Process confidential data in accordance with GDPR and the Data Protection Act, advising stakeholders on implications as appropriate.
  8. Collaborate with colleagues to share knowledge of data analysis tools and techniques, ensuring effective data utilization. Contribute to discussions on systems, databases, platforms, software, and data tools, especially regarding new or upgraded systems.
  9. Promote data literacy within Study Group and foster a data-driven culture across the organization. Advocate for improved data management and utilization.
ABOUT YOU
  1. Extensive experience in a Management Information/Analyst role using Cognos Business Analytics, PowerBI, Tableau, advanced Excel, and SQL.
  2. Undergraduate degree (2:1 or above) from a reputable university or equivalent experience.
  3. Proven track record of effective collaboration with stakeholders in technical and managerial roles, including IT infrastructure, data, and analytics specialists, as well as senior executives.
  4. Ability to exercise sound judgment and initiative in managing priorities while ensuring key objectives are met.
  5. Experience with SQL Server, Microsoft Azure Data Lake, or Oracle databases and data warehouses is desirable.
  6. Experience with Alteryx, R, and/or Python is highly desirable.
