Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a hands-on Data Engineering and AI consultant to design, build and deliver data engineering and analytics solutions for clients using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data services, and Power BI.

You will own end-to-end delivery, from requirements and design through build, testing and handover, while ensuring scalability, security and maintainability across engagements.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on delivery experience across data engineering, analytics/BI, AI and/or consulting.
• Experience with Fabric/Azure data engineering including pipelines, lakehouse, warehouse, ETL/ELT, SQL and Python.
• Proficiency with Power BI, semantic modelling, governance and performance.
• Experience with Azure applied and Generative AI, including retrieval-augmented generation, Azure OpenAI and Azure AI Search.
• Consulting skills including shaping requirements, engaging stakeholders and delivering to a high standard.
• Ability to work across the experience range, from hands-on delivery specialist to senior lead or solution architect.
• Microsoft certifications across Fabric, Azure and AI are welcome, though not required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with clients and colleagues to translate business needs into data and AI solutions.
• Communicate technical decisions and trade-offs clearly.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation and delivery updates.
• Support implementation, governance and transition into support.

• Develop data pipelines, transformations, semantic models and reporting solutions using SQL, Python, Power BI and Fabric
