Job summary

Midland Heart is seeking a Damp & Mould Surveyor to join our Specialist Repairs team. You will investigate complex building defects, diagnose root causes, and manage specialist repairs across our housing portfolio to ensure safe, healthy homes under Awaab's Law.

Ideal candidates will have residential surveying experience, the ability to produce technical reports, and collaborate with contractors to deliver long-term solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience in residential building surveying, housing surveying or specialist property inspections.
• Experience investigating building defects, damp and mould, housing disrepair or building pathology.
• Experience producing technical reports, specifications and schedules of work.

Responsibilities

• Investigate damp and mould cases per Awaab's Law
• Diagnose root causes using evidence-based surveying techniques
• Investigate water ingress, roofing defects, rainwater goods, drainage failures, condensation and ventilation
• Undertake detailed inspections across occupied properties
• Produce technical reports, specifications and schedules of work
• Manage specialist contractors throughout repair process
• Conduct pre- and post-inspections to ensure quality
• Support housing disrepair claims and Housing Ombudsman investigations
• Provide technical advice to colleagues across the organisation
• Ensure recommendations address underlying defects, not just symptoms
