Job summary

NHS Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board is seeking an experienced Placements Lead for Children and Young People. The role provides expert clinical leadership in assessment, review and authorisation of specialist placements for CYP with complex needs, spanning health, education and social care to improve outcomes.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will ensure decisions are clinically appropriate, evidence-based and cost-effective, contributing to statutory duties on SEND,

Qualifications

• Ability to analyse highly complex clinical information.
• Good working knowledge of Children's Mental Health services.
• Current professional registration with RMN/RNLD/OT/Social Worker/Clinical Psychologist.

Responsibilities

• Assess clinical needs and complexity and explore community-based alternatives to proposed placements.
• Provide expert clinical recommendations on the most appropriate placement and package of care.
• Ensure recommendations are evidence based and align with national guidance.
• Advise multidisciplinary teams on ICB processes, funding criteria and evidence-based commissioning.
• Develop knowledge in CYP legislation, policy and guidance and present clinical needs within the placement team.
• Support procurement of specialist services where appropriate.
• Contribute to contract monitoring and provider quality assurance.
• Provide clinical leadership across Children’s Mental Health, Learning Disability, Autism and related areas.
• Assist resolution of complex interagency disagreements.
• Work within local safeguarding procedures.
