Job summary

QinetiQ in Malvern is seeking a Senior Cryptography Engineer to lead cryptography solutions for complex missions, delivering secure protocols and high-assurance systems.

You will work across multidisciplinary teams, engage customers, define requirements, and shape strategy while mentoring junior engineers. This on-site role is 37 hours per week at the Malvern site with travel to customer sites.

The package reflects experience, with £65,700–£73,000 salary plus benefits; DV clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in cryptography, key management or secure systems/product engineering.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams on large engineering programmes or technical consultancy projects.
• Ability to design complex cryptographic solutions to meet security requirements.
• Strong communications skills and stakeholder management.
• Deep understanding of cyber security, threats, and assurance.

Responsibilities

• Technically lead multidisciplinary teams across large bids and projects in the cryptosecurity domain.
• Engage regularly with customers and stakeholders to support delivery and identify opportunities for follow-on work.
• Translate customer requirements into user, system and security requirements for a complex crypto system.
• Explain how cryptographic algorithms function and fit together to enable secure protocols.
• Advise on high-grade crypto and key management to achieve secure outcomes.
