Job summary

Apex Systems US is seeking a Chief Engineer to provide technical leadership for a mission-critical data centre. You will oversee electrical and mechanical systems, drive uptime, and mentor the engineering team in a high-availability environment.

The role focuses on managing maintenance, incident response, and compliance within a Tier III/IV facility, ensuring safe operations and robust resilience for critical infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Experience as Chief Engineer or equivalent in data centres or critical facilities.
• Strong knowledge of electrical and cooling infrastructure in Tier III/IV environments.
• HVAP/AP qualification strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across all critical electrical and mechanical systems.
• Ensure maximum uptime and operational resilience of the facility.
• Lead incident response, troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Review SOPs, MOPs, EOPs and switching schedules.
• Manage critical maintenance activities and shutdowns.
• Oversee specialist contractors and service providers.
• Support compliance, auditing and reporting requirements.
• Ensure all work is carried out safely in line with site procedures and industry standards.
• Mentor and develop engineering teams.
