Job summary

Civica Election Services is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to lead development on the Civica Polling Station app. You will work across public cloud products and maintain existing Election software, solving issues and delivering new features.

The role requires 5+ years of experience with .NET Core, ASP.NET MVC, JavaScript, React and SQL Server. On-site in London is required on a monthly basis, with opportunities to mentor others.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Proficient in .NET Core with C# and ASP.NET MVC.
• Strong knowledge of JavaScript, React and SQL Server.

Civica Election Services are seeking a creative and self-motivated Senior Software Engineer (SSE) with good exposure to multiple technologies and platforms & who is keen to join a growing software company. This SSE will be primarily responsible for working on our Civica Polling Station (CPS) application.

The successful candidate will be part of a team who are developing new and innovative public cloud products as well being responsible for maintaining the existing and established Election related software, investigating, fixing and testing existing software problems.

• Analyse new requirements and provide impact analysis addressing technical design and identifying individual tasks
• Architect, design and implement solutions to meet the requirements.
• Design and coding of new functionality
• Communication of technical details that impact fulfilment of requirements.
• Iterative development of software with responsiveness to constructive feedback.
• Provide 3rd line application support against agreed service levels including the implementation of bug fixes
• Develop and maintain code to a high standard within IT development and maintenance projects.
• Troubleshoot and problem-solve support issues as they arise and as directed by the Development Lead and/or Technical architect.
• Code reviews of the work of peers in the group.
• Perform unit testing of work.
• Write documentation and comment code as required.
• Ensure code is properly version-controlled.
• Comply with corporate test processes and ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
• Supervise and mentor junior staff
• Ability to travel to London on request (once a month minimum)
• Accountable for the quality of your software
