Job summary

The Random House Group is seeking a proactive Costings Team Leader to join the UK Group Finance Department. This Senior Cost Accountant role focuses on end-to-end costing for commercial publishing divisions, ensuring accurate product costing and strong stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• AAT qualification or equivalent is required.
• Experience of staff management is required.
• Experience of balance sheet reconciliations is required.
• Advanced IT skills, including Excel.
• High attention to detail and good time management.
• Experience with SAP is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and monitor department workflow to ensure targets are met.
• Ensure interface completeness between SAP and other applications (Biblio, BlueYonder, Data Warehouse).
• Produce timely balance sheet reconciliations and related schedules.
• Collaborate with management and governance with key stakeholders.
• Drive continuous improvement of costing processes.
• Assist in testing and full implementation of the SAP S4 Hana integration project.
• Liaise with Technology Business Systems and SAP consultants to resolve costing issues.
• Review WIP ledger, prepare variance schedules, finalise write-offs with Production and Finance Director.
• Run WIP settlement monthly and ensure postings are correct.
• Oversee WIP accounts and KPI reporting.
• Help develop the Penguin Random House Group Costing Team.
• Support wider PRH systems development initiatives.
• Manage year end, half year and interim audit queries.
