MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE

  • Perform the role of the Commission Manager, overseeing end-to-end service delivery
  • Ensure client objectives are met through effective cost management services

SCOPE

Senior Cost Managers typically handle commissions ranging from £10m to £50m, depending on project complexity.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Commission Management:

  • Coach junior staff, assign roles, and ensure effective cost management
  • Advise clients on feasibility studies and procurement options
  • Manage estimating, cost planning, tendering, and procurement processes, utilizing tools like The Hive and eTender Platform
  • Act as contract administrator, handle cost variances, change control, valuations, and final accounts
  • Produce and present monthly cost reports, contribute to value engineering, and interface with clients and project teams
  • Lead a cost management team when appropriate, ensuring delivery of all responsibilities
  • Utilize digital tools for cost management, including The Hive suite and Embodied Carbon Calculator
  • Support the execution of the NewLeaf strategy and manage internal fees and resourcing

Marketing and Business Development:

  • Identify and report new business opportunities with existing clients
  • Develop professional networks and lead bid submissions
  • Suggest improvements to procedures, templates, and products
  • Participate in external groups, networking, and CPD events

Internal Management:

  • Ensure knowledge management and process improvements
  • Mentor junior staff and manage projects on D365

REPORTING

A Senior Cost Manager typically reports to an Associate Director, Project Director, or Director.
