Job summary

Turner & Townsend in Manchester seeks a Senior Cost Manager/Project Quantity Surveyor to lead cost control for major construction projects. You will develop budgets, forecast costs, and advise on contractual and procurement strategies to maximise value.

You will work with project managers, architects and clients to ensure profitability and timely delivery, mentoring junior staff and maintaining rigorous cost control practices.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in a relevant field (MRICS preferable).
• Proven cost management experience in a consultancy environment.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a project team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed cost plans and budgets for complex construction projects.
• Conduct cost analysis and provide accurate forecasts throughout project lifecycles.
• Prepare and analyse bills of quantities, tender documents and contract agreements.
• Manage procurement processes, including vendor selection and contract negotiation.
• Perform value engineering to optimise project costs without compromising quality.
• Monitor and report on project financial performance, identifying risks and opportunities.
• Collaborate with project managers, architects and stakeholders for cost-effective delivery.
• Provide expert advice on contractual and commercial matters to internal teams and clients.
• Implement and maintain robust cost control systems and procedures.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to departmental growth.

As a key member of our construction projects division, you will play a crucial role in managing costs, ensuring project profitability, and delivering exceptional value to our clients.

• Develop and maintain detailed cost plans and budgets for complex construction projects
• Conduct thorough cost analysis and provide accurate forecasts throughout project lifecycles
• Prepare and analyse bills of quantities, tender documents, and contract agreements
• Manage the procurement process, including vendor selection and contract negotiation

• Monitor and report on project financial performance, identifying potential risks and opportunities
• Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure cost-effective project delivery

Qualifications

• Degree qualified and MRICS qualified (or working towards) would be preferable
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Inquisitive and problem solving skill base
• Demonstrable cost management experience working at a consultancy
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
