Job summary

Turner & Townsend is seeking Senior Cost Manager / Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the Birmingham team. The role covers high-profile UK infrastructure projects across airports, utilities, transport, and more, with travel across Midlands and East of the UK.

You will lead commercial activities through the project lifecycle, manage NEC-based contracts, and collaborate with clients and contractors to drive cost effectiveness and value engineering.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field.
• MRICS or actively pursuing it is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and cost management.

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial management activities across the project lifecycle.
• Manage contracts and procurement, especially NEC frameworks.
• Oversee post-contract activities: payment approvals, change management, cost control.
• Engage with clients and contractors to ensure transparency and collaboration.
• Identify value engineering opportunities and drive commercial performance.
• Provide data-led insights to support strategic decisions.
• Prepare estimates from early-stage forecasts to detailed cost plans.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Lead commercial management activities across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven expertise in quantity surveying, procurement, and/or estimating, ideally on large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Degree-qualified, with chartered status (MRICS) or actively working towards it.
• Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and infrastructure cost management.
• A collaborative, proactive approach - we value clear communicators and adaptable thinkers.
• Ability to balance site travel with flexible, balanced working.
