Cumming Management Group is seeking to recruit a Senior Cost Manager in Manchester.

The role of a Senior Cost Manager includes the following responsibilities:

  1. Be an integral part of a team responsible for the commercial and contractual performance of projects.
  2. Provide cost management services through pre- and post-contract processes.
  3. Support clients and the team in client presentations and new work opportunities.
  4. Deliver value for money in all circumstances to support business objectives.
  5. Perform duties efficiently, adhering to processes and procedures.
  6. Comply with established commercial, procurement, and contractual strategies.
  7. Take personal responsibility for adhering to Environmental, Health, Safety, Security, and Quality Standards.
  8. Develop relationships with clients, consultants, and contractors.
  9. Draft, advise on, and execute procurement strategies.

Key Attributes:

The ability to:

  1. Prepare indicative cost budgets and appraisals.
  2. Develop elemental cost plans.
  3. Provide advice and opinions on client development plans and expectations.
  4. Market test key development elements.
  5. Analyze data on design efficiencies and benchmark comparisons.
  6. Prepare and issue tender documents.
  7. Manage tender processes and queries from contractors.
  8. Verify applications for interim payments.
  9. Manage change control according to contracts.
  10. Produce cost reports and forecasts.
  11. Assist project managers with Early Warnings, Instructions, and Compensation Events.
  12. Promote commercial awareness throughout projects.
  13. Advise and liaise with internal project and cost control teams.
  14. Develop commercial strategies.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Strong technical delivery experience.
  • Experience in hotel and residential projects is desirable.
  • MRICS qualification or working towards Chartered status.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage complex projects proactively and diligently.
  • Extensive cost planning experience.
  • Experience in procurement advice, tender documentation, and post-contract services.
  • Client-facing with high standards of delivery.
  • Previous employment with a consultancy or end-user client.
  • Proven ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines.
