Job summary

Cumming Group is an international project and cost management consultancy delivering innovative solutions in construction, real estate, and infrastructure. We are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Manager to join our Infrastructure team in Belfast and lead cost management across large programmes.

You will prepare budgets, cost plans, and client-facing documentation, provide risk management and value engineering input, and administer contracts while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• 7+ years' experience in cost management or quantity surveying.
• Experience delivering infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day delivery of large and complex infrastructure projects and programmes.
• Prepare budget estimates, cost plans, financial reports, and client-facing project documentation.
• Provide risk management and value engineering advice throughout project delivery.
• Administer contracts, including valuations, forecasts, cost reporting, and attendance at project meetings.
• Support procurement activities, tender evaluation, contractor selection, and contract documentation.
• Prepare bills of quantities, schedules of rates, and other methods of project evaluation.
• Monitor project fees, resource allocation, and budget performance.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring a high standard of service delivery.
• Contribute to business development activities, bid submissions, and networking opportunities.
• Mentor and support junior team members, promoting professional development and technical excellence.
• Ensure all work is delivered in accordance with quality, governance, and health and safety requirements.

About the Role

Cumming Group is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Manager to join our growing Infrastructure team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on complex, high-profile programmes across sectors including water, utilities, transport, highways, and energy.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering cost management services throughout the project lifecycle, working closely with clients and project teams to ensure successful project outcomes while supporting the continued growth of our Infrastructure practice.

About You

You will be a commercially minded cost management professional with strong technical expertise and experience delivering infrastructure projects in a client-facing environment.

Key Requirements

• Ideally degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, Construction, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years' experience in cost management or quantity surveying.
• Proven experience delivering projects within the Infrastructure sector.
• Strong knowledge of NEC and JCT forms of contract.
• Excellent pre-contract and post-contract cost management skills.
• Experience managing multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.
• Strong stakeholder management and client relationship skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Strong commercial awareness, analytical capability, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
