The Defence Infrastructure Cost Centre supports projects of varying complexity and size, offering services across Programme and Project Management, Cost Engineering, Risk Management, and Commercial disciplines. We assist throughout the project lifecycle, from pre-contract to post-contract, managing infrastructure projects valued from hundreds of thousands to over £200M.

Job Overview

Important: Due to the sensitive nature of these projects, applicants must be SOLE UK Nationals capable of obtaining and maintaining UK MoD Security Clearance (SC). Existing SC clearance is preferred but not mandatory.

We seek a Senior Cost Controller (Senior Project Controls Engineer Grade) to join our Defence Midlands & North team. Responsibilities include managing controls & performance duties on high-profile infrastructure projects, collaborating with experienced professionals, and innovating in cost control practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Tailoring cost control approaches to meet client needs and best practices.
• Promoting cost control benefits within project teams.
• Implementing and maintaining systems to track budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts.
• Developing project Cost Breakdown Structures and aligning budgets with Work Breakdown Structures.
• Mapping cost estimates to project structures for accurate budgeting.
• Collaborating with finance, commercial, and project management teams.
• Leading accruals to reflect actual costs accurately.
• Generating regular cost reports and analyzing earned value management data.
• Advising on cost information for project status and performance reports.
• Training team members on cost control processes.

Security Clearance

Applicants must be UK nationals eligible for SC clearance, considering restrictions related to nationality, residency, and citizenship.

Work Environment

We support hybrid working, with expected site or office attendance around 60%, depending on project needs, including travel.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in Cost Control.
• Familiarity with cost reporting and forecasting techniques.
• Experience leading cost control assurance activities.
• Understanding of Earned Value Management and performance analysis.
• Practical skills in MS Excel and other MS applications.
• Knowledge of at least one cost control tool is desirable.
• Understanding of other project control aspects and NEC contracts is beneficial.
