As our business continues to grow, we are looking to strengthen our Project Controls capability by appointing an experienced Senior Project Cost Controller / Cost Engineer/ Project Accountant. We are seeking a proactive and commercially aware Cost Controller or Cost Engineer who is passionate about cost management and continuous improvement.This role is far more than producing monthly reports. We need someone capable of interrogating cost data, identifying emerging issues and opportunities, providing meaningful insight to Project Managers, and driving improved project performance.The successful candidate will take ownership of cost forecasting, budget management, cashflow forecasting, earned value management (EVM), performance analysis and reporting across a portfolio of projects valued at over £150m. They will also play a key role in developing our cost control maturity, implementing best practice processes, and mentoring junior Project Controls professionalsto enable us to movebeyond reporting to provide meaningful business insight and recommendations.Given the nature of our self-delivered EPC model, a significant proportion of project costs relate todirect labour, materials and consumables, and plant and equipmentWe therefore need someone who can blend the above budgeting, forecasting and EVM skills with hands onproactive daily and weekly monitoring ofpurchase orders, timesheets, expensesand site progress and productivity.
You will be an experienced Cost Controller or Cost Engineer with a strong background in contractor-side project delivery environments.You will thrive in an environment where processes are still developing and enjoy creating structure, improving ways of working and driving performance improvements.Essential ExperienceDedicated experienceinProjectCost Control, Cost Engineering,Project Cost Accountingor Project Controlsroles.Experience withinlargeNuclear, Construction, Engineering, EPC, Infrastructure or Industrial projects.Strong understanding of project budgeting, forecasting and cost management principles.Practical experience of Earned Value Management (EVM)and/ orCashflowmanagement.Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, risks and opportunities.Experience presenting cost performance information to Project Managers and senior stakeholders.Advanced Excel skills.Experience using SAP.
Desirable ExperienceCost, Commercial or Financial qualifications such as CIMA, AATandACCA. Experience supporting major nuclear projects, ideally Hinkley Point C. Experience working within MEH, mechanical installation, electrical installation, process engineering or industrial construction environments. Understanding of NEC contracts.
