Overview

Senior Cost Controller

Location: Ashton Vale, Bristol + Hybrid Working Arrangements

Location (Office): Bristol, GB, BS3 2HQ

This role is based at Babcock and involves supporting the Dreadnought programme within the Mission Systems business area. You will work on delivering vital military capability and contribute to shaping the future of Submarines within the UK. You will continually develop your knowledge and expertise while supporting the delivery of project cost control services.

Start date and working pattern: 37 hours per week, hybrid arrangement with 2 days onsite and 3 days home working.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the financial aspects of the project through to completion.
  • Develop and implement effective cost control measures.
  • Conduct cost forecasting, variance analysis, and performance evaluation.
  • Ensure financial alignment with the approved budget.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop cost estimates and forecasts.
  • Identify risks and variances impacting the Estimate to Complete (ETC).
  • Assess and manage financial impacts of changes in project scope, requirements, or objectives.

Day to day, you’ll be supporting the Project Controls Manager in providing project cost control services across the Dreadnought programme.

Essential Experience
  • Considerable experience in the advanced application of Project Management techniques in a relevant technical project environment across the full project lifecycle.
  • Previous experience on complex defence projects (desirable, but not essential).
  • Ability to champion high performance and inspire others.
  • Experience working with senior level managers both internally and externally.
Qualifications
  • APM PMQ, Chartered status or equivalent (advantageous).

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
