The Senior Cost Consultant will lead end-to-end cost management for major heritage commissions, oversee procurement and reporting, and act as a key interface with clients and consultants.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering service excellence to clients on large heritage projects.
• NEC contract experience.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Good negotiating, influencing, and communication to command respect at all levels.
• Knowledge of contracts, estimating, valuations, cost reporting and financial modelling.

Responsibilities

• Conduct feasibility studies, business cases and write procurement reports.
• Apply value management techniques at project outset.
• Manage estimating and cost planning, including presenting final cost plan.
• Oversee procurement process: prequalification, enquiry, analysis, selection, contract preparation.
• Ensure post-contract cost variances and change control are managed.
• Oversee cost checking and valuation work.
• Produce monthly post-contract cost reports and present to client.
• Attend meetings and actively participate.
• Value engineering and life-cycle costing.
• Negotiate and agree final accounts.
• Interface with client and other consultants at all stages.
• Support marketing and business development within your sector, and contribute to regional promotion.
• Line management and recruitment duties.

The project:

We are delivering the fit-out, refurbishment and alteration of a unique collection of listed buildings in central London. The buildings are situated in a live environment on an estate of national importance with a rich heritage, maintaining logistics and operations with technical and construction partners.

Our client requires strong commercial management that supports the Authority in its role of delivering modern workplace solutions, unique projects and complex programmes of work.

To perform the role of Senior Cost Consultant, taking responsibility for end-to-end service delivery, often with respect to large and complex commissions covering both private and public sector clients. To ensure that client objectives are met through the delivery of a value-added cost management service.

You’ll Be Responsible For

• Conducting feasibility studies, business cases and writing procurement reports.
• Applying value management techniques at the outset of a project.
• Managing estimating and cost planning activities to include taking ownership of and presenting the final cost plan.
• Managing the procurement process, ensuring that all stages including prequalification, enquiry, analysis, selection and contract preparation are performed effectively.
• Ensuring that post contract cost variances and change control processes are managed effectively.
• Ensuring that cost checking and valuation work is managed effectively.
• Ensuring the production of monthly post-contract cost reports and presenting them to the client.
• Attending meetings and active participation.
• Value engineering and life cycle costing.
• Ensuring that final accounts are negotiated and agreed.
• Being a key interface with client and other consultants, at all project stages.
• Marketing and business development duties, particularly in your sector of experience including being mindful of the need to support the consultancy team in promoting Mace in the region.
• Line management and recruitment.

You’ll Need To Have

• Demonstrable experience of delivering service excellence to clients.
• Minimum of 5 years experience working on large heritage / museum institution projects in a construction consultancy environment.
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
• NEC Contract experience.
• Good negotiating, influencing and communication skills to command professional respect at all levels is essential.
• Good working knowledge of contracts, estimating, valuations, cost reporting and financial modelling.
• A degree qualification is preferred but is not essential.
• Professional memberships are an advantage but are not essential.
