Job summary

MLex, a LexisNexis company, seeks a tenacious reporter to cover financial services legislation and regulation in the UK, delivering deadline-driven investigations and timely analysis.

You will work with international teams to translate complex policy topics for readers and break market-moving stories that inform decision-makers.

Qualifications

• Great reporting, media or publishing industry experience or knowledge.
• Collaborative approach with international teams.
• Commitment to high-quality, accurate reporting.
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Fluent command of English; ability in other European languages an advantage.
• Newsroom experience, ideally covering financial services regulation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research and interviews, turn around urgent copy and write to deadline.
• Identify stories that appeal to readership; write big-impact investigations and commentary.
• Support senior journalists and editors by researching news stories or preparing information for coverage.
• Explain complex regulatory or policy topics with strong news judgement and attention to detail.

The core role is covering financial services legislation and regulation, with a focus on the UK. MLex seeks to get ahead of the procedural story through deep-dive analysis of current and emerging trends to anticipate where regulatory risks may lie. It’s a high-pressure beat in which there’s an expectation that you’ll break market-moving news while offering the forward-looking insight that helps inform decision-makers.
