Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced network test engineer to own deep-dive analytics for 4G/5G Core and IMS networks, ensuring quality through end-to-end troubleshooting of LTE and TETRA environments.

You will lead a small team, collaborate with PMO, and coordinate with customers and partners on test strategies and risk management.

Qualifications

Comprehensive knowledge of 4G/5G Core and IMS network technologies, especially Mission Critical Voice, Video, and Data features.
Hands-on testing of Mission Critical Voice, Video, and Data services on commercial VoLTE networks.
Experience with Wireshark tracing, system log analysis, SIP, RTP, RTCP, and Diameter interactions.
Proficiency with Jira and ServiceNow for ticketing and project tracking.
OS lifecycle management for VM deployments on VMware and greenfield deployments.

Responsibilities

Job description

Provide daily subject-matter-expert support for defect triage calls and resolve complex network issues
Manage trouble tickets through successful resolution, supplying information for R&D investigation and implementing recommendations
Lead deep-dive analytics and fault investigations for feature and performance test cases within SLAs
Peer-review and release daily test progress reports, highlighting risks to project timelines and deliverables
Lead performance analysis and troubleshooting of the MCX Core
Validate test cases, upgrade procedures, troubleshooting guides, and product documentation
Provide training and development support for MCX engineers
Plan and execute software upgrades and regression testing on VNF-based Core nodes running on VMware
Update MOPs and deployment materials to support consistent successful deployments
Provide technical support for integration with Samsung MCX nodes, including analysis, feedback, and logs for third parties
Define MCX Core test strategies and test plans for network elements and software release phases
Lead and develop members of a small test and operations team
Collaborate with PMO functions to provide project updates and manage risks
Build effective working relationships with customers and partners
Serve as SME for in-depth technical investigations across end-to-end LTE and TETRA architectures

Requirements

Comprehensive knowledge of 4G/5G Core and IMS network technologies, especially Mission Critical Voice, Video, and Data features
Extensive expertise in IMS and VoLTE architecture, interfaces, and protocols
Hands-on experience testing Mission Critical Voice, Video, and Data services on commercial VoLTE networks
Expertise with Wireshark tracing, system log analysis, SIP, RTP, RTCP, and Diameter interactions
Experience with load-testing tools such as IXIA
Experience with ticketing applications such as Jira and ServiceNow
OS lifecycle management for VM deployments on VMware, including greenfield deployments and upgrades
End-to-end troubleshooting for LTE and TETRA networks and call flows
In-depth knowledge of 3GPP specifications and Mission Critical features
Extensive expertise in IP networking, routing protocols, and network troubleshooting
Excellent written and spoken English
Engineering degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Electronics, Telecoms, or a related field
Awareness of NIST, OWASP, GCF, and UK TSA requirements and their impact on secure network delivery and testing
Willingness to support an on-call rota as required
Ability to work for extended periods at customer locations
Existing SC clearance is ideal, or must be obtained once hired
Ability to maintain high standards of work and adapt to a dynamic working environment
Strong presentation and interpersonal skills
Highly motivated and self-driven, with ability to lead and develop a small team
Ability to execute complex test activities against project and test-plan milestones
Ability to collaborate with PMO functions and manage project risks
Ability to develop effective customer and partner relationships
