Job summary

Infinitesima in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, is seeking a Senior Control Systems Engineer – Technical Support to diagnose and resolve advanced issues across semiconductor inspection systems. You’ll act as the technical escalation expert, supporting field service, applications and customer support teams, and drive rapid resolution of critical customer-impacting problems.

Qualifications

• Experience troubleshooting complex electromechanical systems.
• Understanding of motion control and precision positioning technologies.
• Experience analysing logs, telemetry and diagnostic data.
• Ability to work across software, hardware and systems engineering disciplines.
• Experience communicating technical issues to varied audiences.

Responsibilities

• Leading investigations into complex system issues affecting fielded and manufacturing systems.
• Supporting Customer Support, Applications and Field Service teams on technical escalations.
• Diagnosing issues spanning software, control systems, motion control hardware and automation equipment.
• Driving rapid resolution of critical customer-impacting issues.
• Analyzing sensor feedback and motion performance.
• Supporting optimisation of high‑accuracy electromechanical platforms.
• Working with wafer‑handling systems and automation interfaces.
• Investigating communication and timing issues across complex equipment architectures.
• Performing structured root‑cause analysis.
• Identifying design improvements that improve reliability and robustness.
• Feeding lessons learned back into Engineering and Product Development teams.
• Contributing to future product enhancements.
• Creating diagnostic procedures and troubleshooting guides.
• Supporting knowledge sharing and training activities.
