Job description

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced and motivated Senior Control Systems Engineer to join our world-class engineering team.

This is a key role where you will be responsible for the design, development, and support of control systems that drive the performance of our F1 cars.

You will work closely with other engineers to deliver innovative solutions, from concept through to real-time implementation, while ensuring systems are optimized and tested to the highest standards.

As a Senior Control Systems Engineer, you will:

  • Lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of real-time control systems for hardware-in-the-loop test systems leading to F1 car performance.
  • Develop, test, and deploy software for control systems in real-time applications, ensuring high-performance standards and robustness in the F1 environment.
  • Post-event data analysis of powertrain systems, including transmission and hydraulic systems, for performance and reliability investigation, whilst optimizing systems to ensure validity of tests and performance on track.
  • Create accurate models of dynamic systems for simulation, analysis, and control strategies utilizing advanced modelling techniques and tools to validate and optimize control algorithms.
  • Work closely with the vehicle dynamics, powertrain, and electronics teams to ensure seamless integration of control systems with other components and subsystems of the car.
  • Offer expert troubleshooting and support for on-track performance and testing, quickly diagnosing issues and ensuring swift solutions to meet high performance demands.
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and collaborate on the development of the team’s technical skills.

Our ideal candidate is someone who is:

  • Degree qualified in Electrical, Automotive, Aerospace, Mechanical, Software, or other related engineering disciplines.
  • A proven expert in control systems design, development, and implementation for real-time applications and operating systems.
  • Experienced in systems modelling such as MATLAB/Simulink or similar tools.
  • Proficient in software development for embedded systems such as C, C++, or Python.
  • Strong in understanding vehicle dynamics, powertrain control, and data acquisition systems.
  • Familiar with test facility architecture, including the design and integration of rigs and testing setups.
  • A team player with an open-minded, responsible, and constructive attitude.
  • Able to engage, inspire, and support individuals to build and maintain a high-performance team culture.
  • Well organized with the ability to clearly prioritize tasks and deliver to deadlines.
