Motor Control Software Engineer (Senior / Principal)

Location: Warwickshire, UK

Salary: £65-75k + bonus + benefits (negotiable)

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced software engineer to develop motor control software for various customers across multiple e-mobility / electric vehicle sectors.

Based in Leamington Spa.

Required:

• ESSENTIAL: Proven experience developing software for traction motors used in e-mobility applications (land, sea, or air, e.g., automotive electric vehicles, drones, marine powertrains)
• Experience in embedded software OR model-based software development
• Experience capturing requirements and developing software architecture
• Strong technical leadership, mentoring, and communication skills

You will be involved in taking customer projects from concept to prototype, developing systems from scratch, hardware integration, lab testing, and delivering validated prototypes.

This role requires experience in embedded C software development OR model-based software development using Matlab / Simulink.

Candidates should have a systems understanding and ideally have worked within various e-mobility domains (e.g., automotive, aerospace, marine).

Skills / Experience Required:

• A relevant degree or master's (electronics, computer science, automotive engineering, etc.)
• 8-10 years of post-academic experience, including significant motor control software development for e-mobility systems
• Proven experience in model-based software development using Matlab / Simulink OR embedded C programming
• ESSENTIAL: Proven experience developing software for traction motors in e-mobility applications
• Good engineering aptitude (hardware-software integration, electromechanical systems)
• Ability to lead projects, mentor juniors, and work effectively with customers
• Experience with autocode tools (e.g., Embedded Coder) is advantageous
• Evidence of innovation and problem-solving skills
