Senior Control & Instrumentation Engineer

Job Title: Senior Control & Instrumentation Engineer

Location: Coventry - We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements. Please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: 45,000+ depending on experience

What you'll be doing:

• Develop a functional design for the Vehicle Control solution for SSNA.
• Work with a complex relationship of stakeholders to provide oversight in the delivery of the vehicle control solution and the supporting vehicle control strategy.
• Collaborate with the engineering manager in delivering the vehicle control system, reporting progress through agile tools.
• Ensure the delivery of the engineering plan on schedule.
• Work with the Engineering Delivery Team of varying expertise to develop technical solutions and support team development.
• Engage with legacy stakeholders to develop solutions from a known baseline design.

Your skills and experiences:

Essential

• Experience in developing C&I designs for large-scale systems, meeting functional, defence, and industrial standards.
• Managing non-functional requirements such as EMC and shock, ensuring industrial compliance.
• Authoring/reviewing design documents like I/O schedules, functional design specs, interface control documents.
• Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Physics, Maths, or Science.

Desirable

• Understanding of control system architecture and communication protocols (e.g., RS-485, PROFIBUS).
• Experience with IEC 61508 - Functional Safety and safety evidence production.
• Experience with manoeuvring systems across industries.
