Job Description

Job Title: Senior Control & Instrumentation Engineer

Location: Coventry – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role

Salary: £45,000+ depending on experience

What you’ll be doing:
  1. Develop a functional design for the Vehicle Control solution for SSNA.
  2. Work with a complex relationship of stakeholders to provide oversight in the delivery of the vehicle control solution and the supporting vehicle control strategy.
  3. Collaborate with the engineering manager in the delivery of the vehicle control system, reporting suitable progress through agile toolsets.
  4. Deliver the response to the engineering delivery plan, ensuring that the plan is delivered to schedule.
  5. Work with the Engineering Delivery Team with varying levels of SQEP to develop technical solutions, developing team members and nurturing their development.
  6. Engage with legacy stakeholders in the development of a technical solution from a known baseline design.
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
  • Experience in developing a C&I design for large-scale C&I systems ensuring it meets requirements such as functional, defence, and industrial standards.
  • Experience managing non-functional requirements (e.g., EMC, shock) meeting industrial compliance.
  • Experience authoring/reviewing design documents like I/O schedules, functional design specifications, interface control documents.
  • Degree in Engineering, Physics, Maths, Science, or equivalent experience.
Desirable:
  • Understanding of control system architecture and communication protocols (e.g., RS-485, PROFIBUS).
  • History with IEC 61508 – Functional Safety and supporting safety claims.
  • Experience with manoeuvring systems from various industries.
