Basic Function

The Contracts Management Group provides contractual support to the Commercial and UK Marketing businesses. This position is responsible for making sure all contract related tasks are efficiently and accurately met by providing support to the other team members, in relation to contract drafting, work validation, error resolution, and completing daily tasks. Other responsibilities include project support and performance improvement initiatives aligned with corporate strategic initiatives. Additionally, this position will manage key relationships, negotiate complex contract agreements, coordinate approvals for contract clause exceptions and oversee final review and execution of in scope Company agreements.

Primary Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  1. To accomplish team objectives by planning and evaluating activities for the management and administration of Commercial and UK Marketing energy commodity master contracts.
  2. Facilitate clear and concise communication of the rights, obligations and liabilities contained within Commercial and UK Marketing contracts to the business to ensure that income is maximised, costs are minimised and potential issues are proactively managed.
  3. Closely liaise with legal and other internal groups regarding contract status, co-ordinating the acceptance of contract terms to create a robust legal framework.
  4. Conduct contract negotiations with third parties.
  5. Oversee and/or provide input for effective contract management operations in alignment with the business goals.
  6. Promote the development of best practice processes in line with company goals and reporting requirements, including KPIs.
  7. Provide contract support for corporate initiatives, M&A activity or system changes.
  8. Proactively identify and execute efficiencies across the contracting process.
  9. Participate in the periodic internal and external assurance audit.

Critical Skills/Leadership Criteria

  1. Hold the legal right to live and work in the UK on a permanent basis without restrictions or meet the relevant criteria for employer sponsorship.
  2. Relevant experience in commercial, trading or other relevant energy industry experience.
  3. Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  4. Proven experience in a commercial commodity environment, working with complex contractual, financial, and legal constructs.
  5. Demonstrated negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  6. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  7. Highly organised and ability to prioritise workload to deliver against tight deadlines.
  8. Notable relationship building capability, with strong interpersonal and networking skills.
  9. Evident business acumen with an ability to analyse complex data and documentation with accuracy.
