Basic Function

The Contracts Management Group provides contractual support to the Commercial and UK Marketing businesses. This position is responsible for ensuring all contract-related tasks are completed efficiently and accurately by supporting team members in contract drafting, work validation, error resolution, and daily tasks. Additional responsibilities include project support and performance improvement initiatives aligned with corporate strategies. The role also involves managing key relationships, negotiating complex contracts, coordinating approvals for contract clause exceptions, and overseeing the final review and execution of in-scope company agreements.

Primary Accountabilities/Responsibilities
  1. Plan and evaluate activities for managing and administering Commercial and UK Marketing energy commodity master contracts.
  2. Communicate contract rights, obligations, and liabilities clearly to the business to maximize income, minimize costs, and proactively manage potential issues.
  3. Liaise with legal and internal groups regarding contract status and coordinate acceptance of contract terms to establish a robust legal framework.
  4. Negotiate contracts with third parties.
  5. Support effective contract management operations aligned with business goals.
  6. Develop best practice processes in line with company goals and reporting requirements, including KPIs.
  7. Provide contract support for corporate initiatives, M&A activities, or system changes.
  8. Identify and implement efficiencies in the contracting process.
  9. Participate in internal and external assurance audits periodically.
Critical Skills/Leadership Criteria
  • Legal right to work in the UK on a permanent basis without restrictions or meet criteria for sponsorship.
  • Relevant experience in the energy industry, especially in commercial, trading, or related fields.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working with complex contractual, financial, and legal constructs in a commodity environment.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Strong relationship-building, interpersonal, and networking skills.
  • Business acumen with the ability to analyze complex data and documentation accurately.
