The Trust seeks a strategic Contracting Manager to oversee and manage NHS contracts, ensuring compliance with national guidelines and optimal performance. The Trust’s Contracting Function is part of a well-led Finance Department that offers excellent training and career growth opportunities. The team provides an effective contracts management service to ensure Trust compliance with contractual requirements, identify and mitigate risks, and deliver operations aligned with Trust values and objectives.
Key responsibilities include developing, negotiating, and managing NHS patient-treatment contracts, monitoring contract performance to maximize income recovery and value for money, and acting as the main interface with Commissioners. The role involves ensuring compliance with all contractual obligations, interpreting and implementing national guidance such as the National Tariff, and managing complex discussions with clinicians regarding contractual requirements.
The post holder will develop and implement a Contracting Strategy, negotiate legal Contracts with clinical commissioners, and ensure the Trust’s understanding and implementation of national policies and guidance, including the NHS Operating Framework and national Tariff. They will oversee the production of contract proposals, ensure timely sign-offs, and produce monthly contract monitoring reports.
Additional duties include developing contract workshops for key staff, managing communication between commissioners and clinical services, and understanding the clinical implications of activity management. The role requires a strategic approach to contracting, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to interpret complex policies.
