Job Title: Senior Contract Manager
Reports to: Head of Contracts
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Remuneration: Salary Range up to £52500 depending on experience
Location: Bolton
Purpose:
SpaMedica aims to provide first class care for all patients who choose to have their treatment at our hospitals. It is essential for the contract management function to be at the forefront of the business to develop good working relationships with commissioners, choice centres, NHS England, NHS Improvement, other providers, and other bodies within the NHS environment. Based on knowledge and experience they will help build constructive relationships where possible and create positive relationships with commissioners to enable them to provide good quality healthcare.
To manage the changing commissioning landscape to ensure new commissioning framework risks are mitigated and any contractual direction is considered both within local and national implications.
The Senior Contract Manager will be responsible for the management of SpaMedica's NHS contracts in this new environment ensuring that:
- Assuming the lead role regionally on all matters relating to the management of contracts ensuring all issues are effectively addressed and managed in a timely manner.
- Liaising with the Integrated Care Boards (ICB's) to enable effective provision of services and SpaMedica is seen as a key provider for commissioned services.
- Act as a point of contact, on the management of contracts, ensuring that all issues are effectively addressed and managed.
- Work in close partnership with other departments to ensure the organisation is fully compliant with the relevant ICB requirements, clinical quality and key performance indicators.
- Ensure SpaMedica's contracts are managed so that all work is allocated to the correct ICB's within the agreed financial standards and structure.
- Liaising with Commissioning groups heads and leads, you will hold and develop the key relationships with our ICB's.
- Work with operational teams to ensure that patient choice is effectively championed and provided.
- Ensure that our contracted services are able to flourish in all ICB areas where we are active and in those areas we wish to grow.
- Engage with the relevant stakeholders when necessary wherever patient rights and quality healthcare is challenged.
- Act as SME for the management of contracts and data required to achieve KPIs.
- Ensuring the effective management of contracts allowing the business to meet its legal contractual requirements.
Key Requirements of the Post:
- Existing Contracts - Overview:
Develop relationships with key commissioning and contracting personnel in the new ICBs with a view to increasing their knowledge and understanding of the current and future potential of SpaMedica in the market for ophthalmology services. - Manage any commissioner issues or problems that may exist/arise and work with colleagues at SpaMedica to resolve these promptly - thus maintaining organizational reputation.
- Prepare monthly / quarterly performance reports.
- Attend contract management and contract negotiation meetings.
- Ensure that any new contract documentation is supplied and is both accurate and acceptable to both SpaMedica and commissioners.
Experience:
Must Haves:
- Knowledge of National Tariff / PbR and in depth knowledge of standard NHS contracts.
- Understanding of Choose & Book (CAB) and Electronic Referral Systems (ERS).
- Provider or Commissioner side experience.
- Educated to Degree Level, or, qualified by extensive and demonstrable experience in the field of NHS Public Sector Contracts and Contract Management.
- Excellent communication skills, including:
• written communication, (reports, policy text, correspondence)
• verbal communication, face to face and by telephone
• the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels both inside and outside SpaMedica.
- Proven knowledge and experience of contract management within the NHS or healthcare sector, including experience of dealing with the NHS Standard Contract and/or legislation/policies affecting this contract.
- Experience of creating performance reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Understanding of the current NHS landscape.
- IT Literate, including proficiency in Word and Excel, and in web-based research.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to manage own workload with minimal supervision.
- An innovative approach to problem solving.
- A flexible approach to work.
- Ability to take on new areas of work previously outside existing experience.
- Demonstrated capability to act upon incomplete information, using experience to make inferences and decision making.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet tight and often changing timescales.
- ERS knowledge.
- Commercial Acumen.
- Experience of challenging contractual disputes.
Nice To Haves:
- Familiarity with NHS data management software systems.
- Understanding of HRG Grouper, ICD and OPCS.
- Independent sector NHS experience.
- Independent Healthcare experience.
