Are you an experienced and highly skilled Senior Contracts Manager looking for your next challenge? Do you thrive in a dynamic environment, leading complex building projects from inception to successful completion? We are a thriving West Midlands-based Regional Main Contractor with a strong pipeline of work, delivering diverse building projects up to £30 million in value and boasting a robust annual turnover of £100 million.

We are seeking a driven and commercially astute individual to join our growing team. This is a pivotal role where you'll be instrumental in ensuring the smooth and profitable delivery of our projects, upholding our reputation for quality and client satisfaction.

What You'll Be Doing:

As our Senior Contracts Manager, you'll take the lead on multiple projects, overseeing all contractual aspects and ensuring effective management from pre-construction through to final account. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Contractual Leadership: Leading negotiations, drafting, reviewing, and administering a variety of contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.

  • Risk Management: Proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating contractual and commercial risks across projects.

  • Commercial Acumen: Managing project budgets, forecasts, and valuations to ensure profitability and effective cost control.

  • Project Oversight: Collaborating closely with project managers and site teams to ensure contractual compliance, programme adherence, and quality delivery.

  • Dispute Resolution: Acting as the primary point of contact for contractual queries and effectively resolving any disputes that may arise.

  • Team Collaboration: Fostering strong relationships with internal departments (legal, estimating, operations) and external stakeholders.

  • Compliance: Ensuring all projects comply with relevant legal, regulatory, and health and safety requirements.

  • Process Improvement: Contributing to the continuous improvement of our contract management procedures and best practices.

What We're Looking For:
  • Proven Experience: Significant experience as a Contracts Manager or Senior Contracts Manager within a UK Main Contractor, specifically on building projects up to £30m.

  • Commercial Expertise: A strong understanding of various contract forms (e.g., JCT, NEC) and a track record of successful contract negotiation and administration.

  • Construction Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of construction methods, industry regulations, and best practices.

  • Legal Acumen: A solid grasp of contract law and its application within the construction sector.

  • Leadership & Communication: Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and manage diverse stakeholders.

  • Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.

  • Qualifications: A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is highly desirable. Professional certifications (e.g., MCIOB, RICS) are a plus.

  • West Midlands Based: A strong preference for candidates based in or with easy access to the West Midlands.
