Job summary

Service Care Solutions Ltd in Bedfordshire is seeking an experienced Senior Contracts & Procurement Solicitor on a part-time basis (20 hours per week) to join the Council's legal team. Hybrid working pattern and competitive hourly rate are offered.

The role focuses on complex commercial contracts, procurement matters, and governance across construction, IT, education, and public health sectors.

Qualifications

• A qualified solicitor with relevant post-qualification experience.
• Strong experience in commercial contracts and procurement law.
• Previous experience working within a Local Authority or public sector legal environment is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of public procurement legislation and governance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional and commercially focused legal advice and support to Council departments and external clients on a range of complex commercial contracts and procurement matters.
• Manage a varied caseload of complex commercial contracts and procurement matters, advising on and preparing documentation to a high professional standard.
• Draft, review and negotiate bespoke and standard-form contracts relating to the supply of goods, services and works.
• Provide advice across a range of areas including construction, IT, engineering, social services, education and public health.

Service Care Solutions are currently working with a Local Authority in Bedfordshire who are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Contracts & Procurement Solicitor on a part-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor with strong local government, commercial contracts and procurement experience to join the Council's legal team and provide high-quality legal advice across a varied and complex caseload.

Location: Bedfordshire/Hybrid Working Pattern: Part-time – 20 hours per week Hourly Rate: £50–£65 per hour Umbrella - PAYE (including holiday pay): £44.45–£57.79 per hour Contract: 3 months rolling

Responsibilities as a Senior Contracts and Procurement Solicitor:
