The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Senior Contract Managers to join our Procurement and Commercial (P&C) team supporting the ASTI & RIIO T3 Onshore Capital Delivery programme.

Reporting to the Procurement & Commercial Manager, you will provide the necessary pre and post contract procurement and commercial support to some the largest projects within the This is an excellent opportunity to grow within the SSE portfolio and contribute to the continued growth of this area of the business.

This role would someone from a Quantity Surveying background with experience working either Client or Contractor side, no specific experience working in Energy sector is required but would be advantageous.

You will

- be negotiating contract T&C’s for projects of significant value (from £20M to £500M) and subsequent commercial management of the delivery phase. This will include management of commercial staff.To also include negotiating contract prices and ensure all contract prices can be substantiated and provide value for money to consumers

- demonstrate stakeholder engagement and management skills are essential, as is the ability to influence, lead and resolve disputes together with problem solving.

- deal with Cost and forecast management via regular cost reporting and ensuring change management procedures are adhered to, Payment and expenditure management, Cost estimating.

- provide robust post contract commercial management which will support the project goals and objectives including negotiating/agreeing compensation events and ensuring that the core principles of the Commercial Manual are being implemented.

- support the Procurement and Commercial Manager in providing a world class procurement and commercial service.

You will have

- A degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification and have or be working towards professional membership of a relevant professional body such as RICS or CICES.

- Knowledge and understanding of commercial governance arrangements for the development and execution of large capital projects together with commercial, contract or cost experience in delivering projects.

- Experience of estimating, sourcing management, cost & budget management, and contract administration

- Experience of drafting and interpreting commercial contracts together with knowledge of Standard Form construction contracts and bespoke contract arrangements. Experience of working with NEC / FIDIC Contracts.
