Where you fit in

You will play a key role in the UK/Continental Power Trading Desk, as part of a team focusing on asset optimization (thermal/renewable) and speculative positions from Month-Ahead to Day-Ahead across the European markets.

The UK/Continental Power Trading team, part of Shell Energy Europe & Africa’s (SE-EA) European Power Trading team, is responsible for proprietary trading and managing a growing portfolio including customer demand, renewables, batteries, and thermal generation. The team manages exposures from the curve through to delivery.

Responsibilities
  1. Take positions and manage exposures based on fundamental, weather, and technical market analysis across multiple markets.
  2. Collaborate with curve traders on asset/deal hedging strategies from curve to month-ahead.
  3. Work with external and internal customers to develop new structures or deal types to optimize exposures.
  4. Support the development of tools and resources to manage and monetize prompt positions.
  5. Stay informed on regulatory and market developments.
  6. Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and authorities.
  7. Coach and educate junior colleagues.
Candidate Requirements
  • Experience in prompt power trading in European markets, especially Germany and Netherlands, with a proven track record.
  • Established network with industry participants.
  • Experience managing thermal and renewable assets from month-ahead to day-ahead.
  • Strong understanding of market and weather fundamentals, and willingness to collaborate with the fundamental team.
