Senior Content Designer - Permanent, Full-time opportunity (37.5 hours per week)

Location: Farringdon, London

Salary: £63,801 - £67,158
This role is suitable for hybrid working

About Us:Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing is one of the UK's leading providers of affordable housing and care and support services. We employ over 1900 people to manage and develop our large portfolio of nearly 56,000 homes serving over 75,000 customers across London, the East Midlands, Southern and the East of England.

This role:As the sole Content Designer in the organisation, you’ll take the lead in identifying our users' content needs and delivering accessible, user-friendly content for our digital products. You’ll advocate for the user by championing plain language and accessibility, and conduct research and testing sessions to make evidence-based decisions.

You’ll work directly with internal senior stakeholders from various departments to gather requirements and translate complex information into clear, concise, user-centred content that meets business goals.

You’ll lead on the content governance process, defining workflows and roles/responsibilities for how content is created, reviewed and published across the business. This will involve supporting colleagues to create better content by providing templates and reusable content patterns, and holding workshops and training sessions.

What you'll need to succeed

  • 2+ years’ experience in Content Design
  • Excellent writing skills and a strong understanding of digital content design principles to consistently deliver accessible content that improves user experience and meets business goals
  • Familiar with content design metrics and tools, and experience analysing data and conducting research and testing sessions to discover insights and evaluate content
  • Develop a robust content governance process to improve how content is created and maintained across the organisation
  • A diplomatic and collaborative approach to educate and train stakeholders on best practice for writing for the web, advise on appropriate content formats and challenge anything that’s inaccessible or not user-friendly
  • Able to manage your time effectively, balancing quick turnarounds with longer-term projects
  • Experience with design and collaboration tools (e.g. Figma, Jira, Confluence, Wordpress or a similar CMS)
  • The ability to build trusted relationships across departments to be seen as the go-to expert in content design

Key Dates: first-round interviews will be scheduled from week commencing Monday 14 July
