Job summary

Our client, a Local Authority in Devon, seeks an experienced lead officer to manage contaminated land, air quality and noise responsibilities. You will provide expert guidance, drive the Contaminated Land Strategy, produce comprehensive reports, and support related projects.

The role involves inspecting premises under PPC regime, issuing permits, and taking enforcement where necessary. It also covers coordination of planning/licensing inputs and monitoring networks, with on-site presence

Qualifications

• Minimum five years' Local Government experience in noise/air quality monitoring or contaminated land.
• Ability to inspect and monitor premises under Pollution Prevention and Control Act regime.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead as the contaminated land, air quality and noise officer across relevant areas and provide expert guidance.
• Support projects such as Review and Assessment of Air Quality and implement the Contaminated Land Strategy, including producing written reports.
• Inspect and monitor premises under the PPC regime, draft and issue permits, and take enforcement action where necessary.
• Screen planning and licensing applications, coordinate Environmental Health and Community Safety responses, and participate in meetings as required.
• Operate atmospheric pollution monitoring stations, review the monitoring network, and assist with out-of-hours duties and incident response.
