Role

This role is within Northern Trust’s growing UK Fund Accounting team . This team looks after more than 1 0 % of all UK Authorised Funds for numerous Fund Management clients . Within the Department the Funds are split by Client .

Reporting to the Head of UK New Business and Transitions

Responsible for ensuring UK funds are operationally ready across UK Fund Accounting and assisting the wider EMEA New Business Team, when available. To be able to take the lead in rolling out new business for new and existing clients and to highlight the need for and assist with the development of system enhancements /procedures. To play a key role in the handover of business to the Fund Accounting business units and any associated training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversight of Fund set up and Fund activity

  • Liaise with Clients and internal stakeholders to ensure Fund activity accurately undertaken

  • Manage the Fund Activity, including Fund launches, in-species, mergers, etc

  • Escalation point within the team .

  • Guidance and support given to other team members and raise concerns to manager where appropriate .

  • To be the technical and subject matter expert on the team and handle fund activity and specific fund requirements e.g. transitions/fund launches/in-specie transfers etc

  • Develop and maintain an understanding of the industry and NT, in particular NT’s systems, infrastructure and process data flows

  • Minimise errors in all deliverables at all stages

  • Focus on the resolution of complex transitions, where expertise is required to interpret policies, guidelines and/or processes

  • Identify and respond to operational risk throughout the business unit

Skills / Experience

  • Experience

  • Current knowledge and experience of Fund Accounting

  • Maintain an understanding of the industry and NT, in particular NT’s systems, infrastructure and process/data flows

  • Strong communication , first class presentation and internal and external client-servicing skill

  • Excellent Project Management skills

  • Systems

  • Detailed Knowledge of Enterprise and related Fund Accounting Applications

  • Experience with vendors preferred (Bloomberg, Reuters etc)

  • Understanding of how Fund Accounting systems link and interface to other systems and an appreciation of how to implement such interfaces

  • Analytically and procedurally competent to represent the team on cross-function process or project deliverables

  • Responsible for the rollout of new procedures within the team in consultation with BPA/Team leaders/NAV Managers

  • Process Skills

  • Ability to provide input into long term strategy for department

  • Ability and desire to adhere to automation and standardisation of processes

  • Client Service

  • Experience of representing businesses to current clients via presentations , etc

  • NT client service culture among staff and ensure that all clients receive a quality service

  • Ensure accuracy and timings are consistently achieved within the team and when not achieved actively pursue a solution. Proactive in maintaining Service Level Agreements and recognise when the SLA needs to be amended. Ensure the team adheres to SLA and fund prospectus

  • Collaborate and consult with project/assignment stakeholders with ease. Prepare and recommend solutions to project/assignment issues and risk factors. Provide regular updates to the stakeholders on project status
