Job summary

Oxford Health invites applications for a Consultant Psychiatrist in the Wantage Adult Mental Health Team, based at Wantage Community Hospital. This is a part-time 0.8 FTE post joining an established community service delivering care to adults.

The role offers senior clinical leadership, MDT collaboration, and development of pathways across secondary, primary and community care, with protected SPA and opportunities for service development.

Qualifications

• Medical degree and GMC registration are essential.
• Eligible for GMC Specialist Register (or Specialist Registrar within 6 months of CCT).
• Eligible for Section 12 Approval/Approved Clinician or willing to apply.
• Experience in adult community mental health is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior clinical leadership and expert psychiatric input to the team.
• Act as senior clinical decision-maker within MDT forums and advise across the service.
• Supervise trainees and provide line management within the team.
• Shape local pathways and contribute to service development.
• Deliver consultant responsibilities while supporting safe, recovery-focused care.
