The opportunity

Hitachi Energy has an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Consultant, Power Systems. You will be responsible for developing advisory projects for major electricity sector agents, including distribution, transmission, retailers, and generators, helping them address regulatory, economic, and electricity challenges.

You will assist in building and maintaining long-lasting relationships with internal and external customers to support profitable growth and ongoing satisfaction.

Please note: This position is hybrid (2/3 days working out of our central Birmingham office). We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this role.

How you’ll make an impact
  • Identify opportunities for new and repeat consulting business, building networks for information exchange.
  • Create value for customers and the organization, ensuring successful transactions, contracts, and proposals using sales techniques and negotiations.
  • Propose R&D projects, define scope and budget, support project management including productization and modularization, and follow up on new products/solutions, including contract management activities.
  • Conduct risk and opportunity assessments, ensuring delivery as per contracts.
  • Lead the creation of new processes and tools, coaching colleagues.
  • Manage large projects/processes with limited oversight.
  • Coach and review team members’ work.
Your background
  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering, power systems, or similar.
  • Proven experience and knowledge of the electric power industry, systems, and equipment.
  • Degree in electrical engineering preferred (Masters, PhD, MBA).
  • Over 8 years’ experience in power systems studies.
  • Knowledge of power systems analysis and simulation software such as Digsilent Powerfactory, PSCAD, ETAP, PSS/E, or EMTP.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels, confident in data presentation.
  • Ability to develop relationships, with commercial acumen and proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of technical and business consulting in the power market, with proven market opportunity creation experience.
  • Analytical, self-motivated, with initiative to solve problems.
