Job description

Based in Farringdon at the Sainsbury’s Store Support Centre, an exciting opportunity for a Senior Insight Consultant has become available to join the fun, energetic & collaborative Data & Insight team, part of the Nectar360 Commercial team. You will be responsible for leading the delivery of key consultancy projects, ensuring the best possible delivery of insights and actions to our FMCG clients. Also, to support the Lead Consultants to build a healthy pipeline of client projects to achieve an overall team target, plus management of Insight Consultants who will help deliver the projects.

What you will be doing:

Support the pipeline

  • Report to and support the Lead Consultants
  • Through conversations with Sainsbury’s & Argos colleagues (through category ownership) and clients, identify insight project opportunities
  • Work cross-functionally with our Market Research and Analytics teams to develop a robust methodology and clear, compelling proposal
  • Present that proposal to clients to convert the project and contribute to the team commercial target

Lead the delivery of large, strategic projects

  • Work closely with the Lead Consultant (delivery) and other consultants in the team to deliver quality projects to our FMCG clients
  • Lead the project through close project management and acting as the key point of contact with our clients
  • Lead the debrief of the project, and follow-up with clients to ensure the project delivered value

Champion Insight Consultancy and SIP in Sainsbury’s

  • Raise the profile of our insight consultancy and SIP capabilities within Sainsbury’s trading
  • Build strong relationships with Sainsbury’s Commercial colleagues (e.g. buyers, category planners and range analysts) to ensure they understand the role of Nectar360 insights and the benefit of working with suppliers
  • Where necessary, build relationships with Sainsbury’s central functions (price & promotions, ranging, trading insights) to ensure they are aligned with Nectar360’s engagement with trading

Manage a small team of consultants

  • Motivate, manage, develop and retain members of the consultancy team
  • Support them with delivery of major projects
  • Handle any employee related issues that may arise within the team in conjunction with HR
  • Recruit the best talent available, outlining job specifications, identify and refer top talent in the market, conduct briefings/interviews/assessments/feedback, etc.

What we would like you to have:

  • University degree – ideally with MBA/postgraduate qualification
  • Proven negotiation and consultative selling skills
  • Experience of working in consumer insights, analytics or marketing function – Retail, FMCG or consultancy background preferred
  • Strong people and relationship building skills with clients
  • Experience with insight practices and/or other customer data sets and tools e.g. Nielsen, Kantar, IRI
  • Technical expert, with a passion for numbers and “the shopper”
  • Excellent project management skills, well organised with attention to detail
  • Able to communicate and present effectively at all levels
  • Self-motivated with an understanding of analytics and the solution development process
  • Experience of working to monthly targets across multiple channels and financial management
  • High energy, proactive and a team player with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Some line management experience would be beneficial
