Job summary

Lancashire County Council is seeking a Principal Construction & Projects Lawyer to lead legal advice on major infrastructure, highways, property and regeneration projects in Preston. The role is hybrid with responsibilities across procurement, governance and strategy.

You will draft complex contracts, advise senior officers, mentor team members and help shape decisions for one of the country’s largest local authorities.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in construction law and projects work.
• Excellent drafting and negotiating construction contracts (NEC/JCT).
• Strong advisory and strategic legal skills for high-value projects.

Responsibilities

• Advising on major construction, highways and infrastructure projects.
• Drafting and negotiating complex construction contracts, including NEC and JCT.
• Providing commercial and strategic legal advice on high-value projects.
• Supporting complex procurement exercises, subsidy control matters and commercial risk management.
• Advising senior officers on public law, governance and decision-making.
• Providing technical leadership and mentoring colleagues.
