Job summary

Murphy is seeking a Senior Construction Manager – OHL to lead the safe and efficient construction delivery of major electricity transmission infrastructure projects across the UK, with travel to sites as required. You will oversee access, foundations, tower erection and stringing, driving standards in safety, quality and productivity.

You will manage construction programmes, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and ensure compliance with NEC4 contracts while delivering on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Significant senior construction management experience delivering high‑voltage OHL projects.
• Strong knowledge of access, foundations, tower erection, conductor stringing, testing and energisation.
• Ability to plan and lead construction programmes and manage multiple fronts.
• Experience managing multi‑disciplinary site teams and supply chain partners.
• Good working knowledge of NEC4 contracts.
• Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead safe, efficient construction delivery of complex OHL projects from mobilisation through installation, testing, commissioning and handover.
• Set and maintain high standards of safety, quality, environmental performance and construction productivity.
• Provide leadership and technical oversight across access, foundations, tower erection, stringing, fittings, testing and commissioning.
• Develop, review and manage construction programmes, methodologies and sequencing for efficiencies.
• Ensure scope, designs, temporary works, methodologies and test plans are understood and implemented.
• Identify and manage construction risks including land access, outages, design maturity and resources.
• Lead and develop the site delivery team and subcontractors.
• Build relationships with clients, designers, land teams and partners; provide progress updates.
• Ensure labour, plant, materials and logistics plans support the programme.
• Collaborate with project and commercial teams on change control and targets.
• Resolve site and technical issues, escalating when needed.

A day in the life of a Murphy Senior Construction Manager – OHL:

• Lead the safe, efficient and high‑quality construction delivery of complex OHL projects from mobilisation through installation, testing, commissioning and handover.
• Set and maintain high standards of safety, quality, environmental performance and construction productivity across the project.
• Provide construction leadership and technical oversight across access, foundations, tower erection, conductor stringing, fittings, testing and commissioning activities.
• Develop, review and manage construction programmes, methodologies and sequencing to identify efficiencies, constraints, interfaces and opportunities for improved delivery.
• Ensure project scope, design deliverables, temporary works, construction methodologies and inspection and test plans are clearly understood and effectively implemented.
• Identify and manage construction risks, including land access, outages, design maturity, consents, resources, interfaces and supply chain performance.
• Lead and develop the site delivery team, including Construction Managers, Site Managers, Site Engineers, supervisors and delivery partners.
• Build collaborative relationships with clients, designers, statutory bodies, land teams and subcontractors, providing clear and timely construction progress updates.
• Ensure robust labour, plant, materials, logistics and site establishment plans are in place to support the construction programme.
• Work closely with project and commercial teams to maintain effective change control and achieve agreed programme, cost and performance targets.
• Resolve site, operational and technical issues promptly, escalating business‑critical matters to the Project Manager or Project Director where required.

• Demonstrated ability to plan and lead construction programmes, coordinate OHL routes and work fronts, and identify practical delivery efficiencies.
• Experience managing multi‑disciplinary site teams and supply chain partners through construction and handover within programme, cost and quality controls.
• Good working knowledge of NEC4 contracts, including early warnings, change management and construction records.
• Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build
