Opportunity for a Senior Construction Manager - Infrastructure, Civil and Build - Nuclear New Build (Sizewell C) working with Mace on the Sizewell C Project.

The project:

Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes. It will be a close copy of Hinkley Point C, which is already under construction in Somerset. These new power stations will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years.

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved right from the start of such a historic project.

The role requires you to work from the project site in Suffolk at least 4 days per week. BPSS security clearance will be required.

Duties include:

  • Working as part of the senior construction delivery team, taking direction from the construction lead and project senior leadership team, providing guidance to the wider team.
  • Building relationships to manage and influence senior stakeholders, both internally and externally.
  • Developing a strong working relationship with clients and supporting the construction lead in translating the client's vision into an onsite plan.
  • Planning, managing, monitoring, and coordinating construction works, reporting to the construction site director.
  • Supporting the review and approval of contractor risk management plans by the PC team.
  • Assisting in the development of the construction phase plan and ensuring its implementation and compliance on site.
  • Supporting health and safety management throughout the construction phase.
  • Engaging with workers on health, safety, and welfare issues.
  • Ensuring suitable welfare facilities are provided and maintained from the start.
  • Ensuring all workers receive site-specific inductions and necessary training.
  • Supporting measures to prevent unauthorized site access.
  • Ensuring budgets and operations meet organizational and legislative standards.
  • Contributing to the development of long-term strategies for a sustainable business future.
  • Upholding Mace values and making a positive impact for people, clients, and the planet.

Requirements:

  • Degree or recognized qualification in construction management, civil engineering, or related field.
  • SMSTS or IOSH qualification.
  • Experience with medium to large infrastructure civil projects.
  • Experience in key disciplines such as Highways, Rail, Utilities, Earthworks, Piling.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety and CDM regulations.
  • Ability to build lasting client relationships and lead motivated teams.
  • Membership of MCIOB, MAPM, MRICS, MICE, or equivalent.
  • Construction management expertise.
