The Opportunity

Due to increased expansion, our client, a leading nuclear consultant, is looking to bring in a Senior Construction Manager on a permanent basis to help deliver their EPC construction projects in Bridgwater.

Your Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Manage and develop their Construction Delivery Managers, to ensure they have a good understanding of site activities and can carry out their role accordingly. Offer support and guidance, along with ensuring that all appropriate training for a CDM is undertaken.
  2. Fulfil Line Management responsibilities to Construction Delivery Managers.
  3. Oversee all aspects of Health Safety and Environment during construction activities in their allocated area(s), in accordance with the NNB HPC Construction Phase Plan.
  4. Undertake and record safety and/or assurance inspections that support the project KPIs. The tool at HPC for this is INSIGHT.
  5. Construction Delivery Lead shares the Construction Delivery Manager's responsibilities depending on work area and scope complexity. When nominated by the SCDM, undertakes the role of Construction Delivery Manager for specific areas as and when required.
  6. Ensure that the HPC Drumbeat for the series of Daily and Weekly Meetings is understood and carried out by CDM's.
  7. Organise and conduct Weekly planning meetings called Plan of the Week (PLOW's) with the Contractor Partners, to ensure that the coordination and short term planning is in line with the overall delivery schedule and outputs are recorded and issues escalated.
You Will Have the Following Qualifications & Experience
  1. Management of strategic planning of site set up, construction sequencing, recovery plans and resource allocation.
  2. Good working knowledge of commercial principles affecting construction matters.
  3. Ability to produce informative, concise reports.
  4. Motivational approach and the ability to energise team members by building a climate of trust and understanding.
  5. Considerable working knowledge in the delivery of large complex projects.
  6. Relevant Degree (or equivalent) in either Civil Construction.
  7. Working understanding of the post holder's obligations under CDM Regulations.
  8. NEBOSH, SMSTS or IOSH qualification holder.
It's Great If You Also Have the Following
  1. Current security clearance or be eligible to obtain.
  2. Degree qualified.
The Setting for the Role

Risks and Hazards are in line with working on a nuclear licensed site. These can include nuclear fuel, radiation, chemicals and gases, high voltage equipment, moving vehicles, flammable materials, high pressure circuits, steam, high noise and vibration levels. A full site induction will be provided and all safety requirements must be adhered to when entering the site.
